hiking and osteoarthritisHi! My name is Ryan and I started From Athletics to Arthritis, because I, like millions of others, suffer from one of the many forms of arthritis. In my case, it’s osteoarthritis.

But as you can see in the picture to the left, I don’t look like someone who comes to mind when you think of a person with arthritis.

I’m still pretty young at 38 and I was diagnosed with arthritis in my right ankle at the ripe old age of 28!

I started From Athletics to Arthritis because I want to help people who are still young(er) and learn to manage their arthritis and continue to live an active lifestyle, getting the most out of their life without letting their arthritis slow them down.

As a former collegiate basketball player, I maintained an active life all the way up until my ankle arthritis limited what I could do and how often. Even now, after 2 ankle surgeries and a constantly inflamed ankle, I still try and be as active as I can. It’s not easy, but I can’t let my ankle arthritis get the best of me. Not at this age.

I hope to use From Athletics to Arthritis to as a platform to help and inspire others learn how to navigate all the ups and downs that come from living with arthritis. I’ve learned a lot over the years and I would love to pass some of that information on to others! And yes, that is my ankle you see below.
